This summer, we are excited to take part in Tour de Simcha, an exhilarating 65-mile cycling event benefiting the children and families of Chai Lifeline. Every mile we ride and every dollar we raise will help support more than two-dozen essential programs for more than 5,900 children and families confronting pediatric illness, crisis, and loss. Life for a child with cancer, disability, or other serious illness is grueling. From the moment of diagnosis, Chai Lifeline’s dedicated staff and volunteers are there to provide joy, hope, and unparalleled care throughout the turbulent medical journey. I (Leah) also live with an illness that kept me isolated and feeling alone for a long time. I really understand how meaningful it is for a sick child to be surrounded by love and excitement and normalcy, and I am so happy to be able to do my part to help this happen. A decade ago I used to use an electric wheelchair to get around - now I am riding dozens of miles on my recumbent trike and I couldn't be more proud. This will be my 3rd year riding in Tour de Simcha, and the overwhelming feelings that come with being able to provide so much joy for a child is what keeps me coming back. And this year I am so excited that my daughter Eliana will be joining me on this amazing ride to raise money for this amazing cause!
I (Eliana) am so excited to be joining my mom on this ride for my first time! I am inspired by my mom who used to have trouble walking the half mile to shul, and is now able to accomplish this incredible feat to raise money for others in need. I can't wait to cross The World's Greatest Finish Line!
